Handcrafted of walnut and meticulously bookmatched burled walnut, this handsome commode is complimented by its original Saint Anne gray marble top with an ogee edge and canted corners that overhang the body of the chest to balance the proportion of the plinth base and sabot feet, emphasizing the geometric quality of the style created during the reign of King Louis Philippe (1830-1848). The secret locking doucine drawer sits over three full-length drawers with circular brass pulls and a center brass escutcheon that identifies the keyhole. Not only decorative, the escutcheons protect the wood from the iron keys. Raised on sabot feet. The scale of the drawers ensures an ample amount of storage wherever this chest is placed.
