Very scarce imprint. Thomas Prince [1687-1753] studied under Increase Mather at Harvard. And afterward became minister [from 1718 to 1753] of Boston's famed South Church. He was a faithful divine, pastor, author, and collector of books. He also edited America's first theological periodical [dedicated to reporting news of the Great Awakening; Jonathan Edwards was a contributor]. 

As a book collector, its is recorded that he was only rivaled by Cotton Mather and Thomas Hutchinson. Both Mather and Hutchinson's libraries were poorly stewarded after their deaths. Prince's was left in full to the South Church, and its record remains as one of the most significant assemblages of influential books during the American colonial era.

A very smartly preserved copy in wraps as issued. Respined and the front wrap relaid and re-attached. The rear wrap absent. The contents are generally solid and clean; retains the original frontis of Prince.
