A rather scarce and important diary of Joshua Evans [1731-1798], an early Quaker traveling preacher who spent a significant amount of time preaching to enslaved communities in the states of Tennessee, Maryland, South Carolina, and Georgia.

Includes an extensive 30+ page section of the work is given to his observations of the treatment and state of slavesin the southern-most colonies during the 18th century, accounts of his preaching to them, etc., . . . primary material from a time from which first-hand accounts are remarkable scarce. 

No copies of the present on the market and not traced at auction since 1945.
