This Dong Ding (冻顶 Dòng Dǐng) oolong tea comes from the famous mountain in Nantou, Taiwan. It's made from a spring production of a Qing Xing cultivar that has been moderately oxidised, rolled into a ball shape, and then gently roasted over charcoal to yield a well balanced, fragrant, and smooth oolong tea.

This oolong is intensely fragrant - both in the nose and when drinking - with a long-lingering, fruity-floral sweetness in the aftertaste, and a smooth mouthfeel. Picked in spring 2024, this oolong tea has had ample time to rest and settle after its charcoal roasting, giving it the perfect balance of flavour without any residual smokey overtones.

This Dong Ding is made in the more traditional style with balanced oxidisation and roasting, compared to the newer trend of very lightly oxidised, un-roasted teas that are almost green tea like. In our opinion, this style results in a much richer, flavourful, and balanced tea.
