Set at the centre is a rectangular carnelian of rich earthy tone, its glowing surface beautifully polished to reveal the stone’s natural depth. 

The surface has been sweetly and somewhat naïvely engraved by hand with the word “Amor” beneath a simple floral motif. The gentle irregularity of the carving gives the piece a deeply personal feel, as though it were created as a token of affection rather than for display. “Amor,” the Latin word for love, was a popular inscription in sentimental jewellery, expressing devotion in a timeless and understated way.

The stone is set within a simple 9 carat gold mount, deliberately restrained so that all attention rests on the touching inscription. The clean lines of the setting give the ring a wearability that feels just as appealing today as when it was first made.
