For sale is a very scarce Silex-style reel made by E.J. Brown and sold by Steans & Co. from New Zealand. 1950s vintage. 4 5/8" diameter, 1 1/2" spool width, weight 21 1/4 oz. Right hand retrieve. A very solid reel mechanically. No repairs or unoriginal parts exist. The foot is perfect. The on/off click lever works as intended. The hand brake applies an adequate amount of pressure to the revolving spool while fighting a fish. The spool screw also serves as a startup drag tension setting.
