A very early imprint of one of George MacDonald's most significant explicitly "religious" contributions to literature. It contains one of his most influential works, i.e. "The Consuming Fire" [of God's love].
Macdonald, George. Unspoken Sermons. First Series. London. Strahan & Co. 1870. Fourth Edition [i.e. First Edition, Fourth Printing]. 245pp.
Good + in original deep blue cloth with some minor rubbing and light mottling to cloth. Personal bookplate on pastedown, a tipped in advert for works by Horace Bushnell by Strahan between pastedown and fly leaf, and a solitary discrete ex library stamp on the reverse of the title page. Minor to moderate foxing on prelims and rears and very minor ripple to text at lower extremity toward the front and rear likely from some minor dampness at some point in its past. Text crisp, clean, and unmarked and binding solid.
