Discover the iconic Zero Fighter, the Imperial Japanese Navy's premier shipboard fighter during WWII and the Pacific War. Engineered by Jiro Horikoshi of Mitsubishi and officially adopted in 1940 as the Type 11, this aircraft first showcased its prowess in the Sino-Japanese War before evolving into the mass-produced Type 21. Equipped with a Sakae Type 12 engine delivering 940 horsepower and reaching speeds up to 533 km/h, it was armed with two 20mm and two 7.7mm machine guns. Its exceptional maneuverability and extended range of over 3,000 km, thanks to innovative design and drop tanks, made it a formidable opponent across the vast Pacific.
Introducing the new 1/72 airplane model series from Platz, celebrated by model enthusiasts as the "Full Action Series." The second installment features the Type 21 Zero, a dark green-colored unit of one of Japan's most renowned shipboard fighters. This model boasts decals from Cartograf of Italy, known for their superior quality, and parts from F-Toys, recognized for their ease of assembly. The Type 12’s star-shaped air-cooled engine is intricately detailed in the nose cowl, alongside a crafted cockpit interior, legs, and leg storage areas. Notably, the model includes movable parts post-assembly, such as an opening and closing windshield, movable ailerons, elevator, rudder, and other moving wings, plus retractable legs for varied display options. Two types of markings are available, representing the 263rd and 203rd Naval Air Squadrons.
