A nice Steve Gobin (Quilceda Rod Works) bamboo fly rod, 7', 3-piece, 2-tips, built for a #3 or #4 line. The rod is inked as being 6'8" but is a full 7' in length. Mint, unused condition. Pleasing, medium fast action. Steve is a highly celebrated fly tyer and a protege of West Coast builder Darryl Whitehead and his rods only very rarely come to market. Built in a three up node pattern construction, the cane is a medium wheat straw color. Excellent varnish. Wrapped in light brown with black tipping. Agate stripping guide with snake brand guides the rest of the way. 6" long grip done in a contemporary, full wells profile. Oxidized step ferrules with a knurl on the female welt with slightly flared ferrule plugs made of cape buffalo. Oxidized uplocking sliding ring reel seat with a hidden pocket cap over a maple burl wood spacer that flares at the bottom to keep the ring on, with an oxidized button inset in the bottom. Packs in a yellow poplin bag and an aluminum tube with brass hardware and Steve's label affixed to the outside. A neat chance to own a rod from a builder who has been influential in the development of Northwest steelhead fishing.
