RTS 4-Pinion Front Planetary - 24 Spline                                                                                                                                                                                    

The OEM Ford C4 front planetary is a well-known weak link in performance applications. Its 3-gear design with no bearings generates excessive heat and is prone to failure under load. Our new 4-pinion planetary has 4 gears instead of the OEM 3 for extra strength while also including a torrington thrust bearing in place of the OEM shim. Thrust shims are used between each gear to reduce premature wear and friction within the gearbox. This reduces the heat generated in the transmission, increasing the efficiency of the system (less HP loss) while also reducing transmission oil temperatures (which is the transmissions worst enemy)!

Built from a CNC-machined 4140 Chromoly housing and fitted with 8620 heat-treated steel gears, the assembly uses deep-hardened Chromoly pins (HRC60-65) for maximum durability. Unlike heavier 6-pinion versions that compromise housing strength and consume more power to drive, the RTS 4-pinion planetary contains the ideal balance of strength, efficiency, and reliability - which other brands may not fully consider.

Note: Due to the thickness of the IKO bearing included in this planteary, the anulus will need to be machined down approximately 1.3-1.4mm for correct fitment. The bearing OD is 78mm.

Note: In performance transmission applications, the importance of oil feed to the planetary gear set is paramount for long lasting performance.
