MAUI EARRINGS

The Niho design featured at the top represents strength, leadership, resilience and whakapapa. We have blended this into the Polynesian motifs to symbolise the infamous demi-god Maui.

Maui features in many pūrākau throughout Polynesian narratives. Amongst many other achievements, Maui famously fished up Te Ika-a-Maui (North Island), and slowed down the sun in Aotearoa. In Samoa, he is responsible for bringing taro to the people. In Hawaiian legends, Maui is also known to be a clever and daring sailor. The narratives of Maui connect all peoples of the Pacific together.
