• This is a phenomenal set whose twin walked the runway for the Spring 1989 Nina Ricci show.
• It was made under the creative direction of Gerard Pipart.
• The dress is interesting because it has the main label normal tags but inside it is almost completely made by hand and finished to a demi-couture level. We often see this with pieces that were special ordered and made in the Paris atelier but where the client did not get fitted at the Couture atelier.
• Both pieces are made out of a feather light silk chiffon. This fabric choice holds the colours beautifully. 
• The neckline has elastic all around its edge and this is what allows you to wear it up on one shoulder and then it just falls into place around you. Because it does have that has elastic all the way around you it is extremely easy to fit since the bodice underneath is full and easy.
• It is gathered across the top of that one shoulder and then the sleeve extends out from there. The sleeve is extremely full and easy with a gorgeous balloon cut. More elastic sits at the cuff which lets it hug the wrist while the silk balloons out over it.
• The bodice is draped and easy over you and skims down to an elastic finished waist that makes fitting it very flexible. If you wanted more shape you could easily add a belt.
• The silk skirt is set into a banded waist and then falls in a series of cleats under that. Pleats are set in all along the waist band and then open up from there to the hem. The opening and softness of the pleats as they run down the length of the skirt is what gives the skirt its incredible volume.
• There is so much silk in the skirt and the pictures don't truly portray the amount of movement that it has when you move. If you were to lay this out and open the skirt it is more than a full circle around. That volume combined with the lightness of the fabric gives you incredible movement when you move.
• The sides of the skirt hang slightly longer for added movement.
• This is an absolutely stunning example of his for the label work during this time period. 
• I also love the added versatility of it being two pieces so that you can mix and match either with things you already own.
• Both pieces are unlined. The top has a slight bit of transparency to it because it is only a single layer of silk chiffon. The top slips over the head and the elastic adjusts to the wearer. The skirt closes with a side set zipper and hook & eye on the waistband. It appears that the hooks on the waist have been moved over by one inch at some point. If you needed an extra inch at the waist you could move them back. There is perhaps the slightest bit of fading on the waistband. It is extremely minor and just mentioned for accuracy.

Sleeve: 23" and it is full and easy through the upper arm
Bust: to 22" flat across from side seam to side seam and will just drape into place on a smaller frame.
Elastic waist: 14-23" flat across from side seam to side seam
Total length: approximately 18" from top of the shoulder to the waist and it extends another 7" past the waist. The fabric of the top is meant to blouse over the waist so you can wear it wherever you want.
