From Gucci’s exuberant universe under Alessandro Michele, these Flashtrek Sega sneakers (which walked the Fall 2018 runway) embody the era’s love of excess: part trail shoe, part jewel box, part fantasy object. With their exaggerated chunky sole, metallic panels, and crystal-studded straps, they channel what one critic called Michele’s “Frankenstein footwear”—an intentional collision of luxury and eccentricity. Gifted to Ivy Getty by her godmother for Christmas, they appealed to her precisely for that spirit. “I think that era of Alessandro for Gucci is special in its own way,” she says, adding that “having any piece from that era is special.” Ivy wore them often, drawn as much to their humor as their opulence, including for a now-legendary Getty Images appearance in a Union Jack–painted Aston Martin that only deepened their myth.
