The Fireray 5000 System is a self-aligning, automatically adjusting infrared reflective beam smoke detector. A single ground-level controller can manage up to two detector heads. Each system controller contains two sets of fire and fault relays, one for each detector. After mounting the detector head with the easyfit installation system, an integrated LASER can be switched on, enabling fast and accurate positioning of the reflective prism.

The Auto-Align feature guarantees accurate alignment and optimal signal strength throughout the beam installation process. AutoOptimise continuously adjusts and holds the beam in its ideal position to ensure dependable operation. The transmitter emits a signal, which is reflected by the prism and received by the receiver; this signal is then evaluated for smoke detection. When the internal microprocessor detects that the obscuration has reached a preset threshold, it triggers an alarm condition.

The system is designed to be mounted so the beam will project between 19” (0.5m) and 24” (0.6m) below the ceiling. Lateral detection may be up to 30ft. (9.144m) on either side of the beam, providing a maximum total coverage area of up to 19,800 square feet (60ft. x 330ft. or 18.29m x 100m). For installations complying with UL268/NFPA72, the maximum distance of Detector and Reflector from the ceiling must be 10% of the distance between floor and ceiling.
