This timeless wool coat walked the runway as look 34/76 in Valentino Garavani's Spring 2003 collection. The collection had a 2000s-does-1960s feel and this coat leans into that. Tailored from cream wool, it has a graceful, A-line silhouette with a raised collarless neckline and sharp shoulders. It has an open front which closes with an elaborately crafted circular brass clasp and a small tonal zip above the clasp. These brass clasps were an elegant touchstone throughout the collection and mentioned in the Vogue review at the time. The coat has two patch pockets with curved flaps that sit on the hips. It is lined with white satin.
This coat is accompanied by a matching skirt that was not featured on the runway. It has a high-waist cut and slant pockets at the hips. There is a slit in the centre front for ease of movement. It too is lined with white satin.
Both pieces are tailored from 100% Virgin Wool and lined with 100% Polyester. The coat is labelled a size US 12, UK 16 and the skirt a US 10, UK 14. They run smaller in our opinion and are better suited to a UK 12 or US 8 as they are without stretch.
