The Night Blooming Cereus flower, also known as “Honolulu Queen” or “Queen of the Night” symbolizes fleeting beauty, transformation, and impermanence since some of the species only blooms once a year, for a single summer night. And by dawn, they start wilting.
This flower also has a special connection with our local Punahou School in Honolulu. In 1836, the wall along Punahou Street was built and the cactus was planted alongside near Punahou’s main entrance. And since then it now surrounds Punahou school rock walls on Wilder and Punahou Street.
This beautiful shirt won’t be in bloom for too long so make sure you capture one before they’re all gone!
