“Kala Cotton” is a 100% natural and organic fabric. The fabric is indigenous to Kutch, Gujarat and is one of the few genetically pure cotton species remaining in India.

Kala Cotton is a short staple crop, hence the process to weave the yarns is tedious. After years of experimentation with perfecting spinning and weaving techniques, the weavers have been able to create a process of converting raw materials to hand-woven textiles.

Kala cotton is a strong and durable fabric, soft to the skin. The rain-fed cotton crop is resistant to disease, pests and it can withstand stressful climatic conditions. No pesticides or synthetic fertilizers are required for its growth.

The fabric is dyed naturally with substances like indigo, madder, harde powder and others.
