• The twin of this dress walked the runway as Look 88 for the Spring 2022 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli
• The dress was a recreation of an iconic piece from the 1971 collection that was immortalized in Italian Vogue. This and the other dress in that same photo were recreated as a nod to the original Mr. Valentino.
• One was worn by Lady Gaga that year. I love this lets you see how extraordinary this piece is on the body.
  
• In Vogue's review they said that is was "a proposition of a beautiful, casualized couture wardrobe designed to float between genders: lightweight taffeta tailoring in vivid colours, plethoras of dresses from minuscule and cutaway to sweeping, embroidered caftans. The mini-maxi proportion play—like billowy volumes teamed with micro-shorts—provided a translated house glamour..."
• The dress is made out of a feather light printed silk chiffon screened to re-create the floral print on the original 1971 version. This fabric choice holds the colours beautifully. 
• The neckline is set wide across so that it sits at the edges of the shoulders. If you are not very broad across the shoulders you may be able to wear it fully off the shoulder but for most I think it will sit at the edges of the shoulder like you see on the dress form here. A wide 11" ruffle follows the entire neckline and gives it the prettiest flounce all the way around you.
• Under that the bodice skims down to the seamed waist. The dress comes with an extra long matching tie belt in the same fabric that you can use to cinch in the waist as much as needed.
• The skirt is set into the waist t in a series of tiny gathers that expand outward and this is what gives the skirt its incredible volume. 
• The skirt falls shorter with a bit of a peak coming up on one side. I love how this adds to the volume and detail of the skirt. As it circles around the back it gets longer. If you were to lay this out and open the skirt it is more than a full circle around. That incredible volume combined with the lightness of the fabric gives you fantastic movement when you move. There are yards of silk chiffon in its construction.
• Both the edges of the caped ruffle that circles around the shoulders and the entire hem are finished with a red silk ribbon. This adds the perfect and unexpected pop of colour.
• This is an absolutely stunning dress and this particular cut of dress is one of my favourites. I love that it perfectly showcases the original Valentino version.
• The dress is fully lined in a black silk and closes with a hidden set back zipper. The tie belt is original to the dress. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
