• A very rare piece from the Spring 1999 collection.
• Made under the creative direction of John Galliano
• For this show the Dior Catwalk book noted that "Galliano took a trip on the Trans-Siberian railway and drew inspiration from Russian avant-garde as well as the Chinese red army."
• You can see the influence of that in this jacket with its cut and curving crossed over cut. When you look closely at that wide band that edges the jacket you see little Chinese motifs embroidered in a raised pattern on the silk. 
  
• The way the body of the jacket is textured is also a nod to that same heritage and the three frog knots that sit just under the neckline add to that beautifully.
• The jacket has a beautiful curving cut to it that comes in at the waist and then flares out over the top of the hip.
• The ends of the capped sleeves have been brought back in and under themselves so they have a bit of a puffed feel.
• I love the way the collar of the jacket is set to slightly come up and off the skin to frame the neck. Those three soft frog knots at the base of the opening are absolutely stunning.
• It is fully lined in a black silk and beautifully made.
• It closes under the curving edge at the front with hidden set snaps and then the frog knots close over that. Light padding in each shoulder for shaping.
• A little CD is embroidered into the inner side lining of the jacket and I love this little detail.
