Made in France, this Chanel haute couture cream and black skirt suit is from the Spring 1994 Couture collection and the actual suit appeared on the runway. Alas, we only have a brief video clip showing the design and have attached a runway photo of a similar suit from the same collection with identical buttons and fabrics.

Bringing the brand’s tailoring sophistication to an elegant skirt suit silhouette, it is cut from signature textured inky-black bouclé wool. The high-waist mini-skirt fastens at the back of the waist with a hidden tonal zip and hook-and-eye clasp. Inside the skirt, the wool is backed by matte black silk and there is a further inner lining in sheer black silk. The jacket is classic Chanel; cut to an elongated shape, it is tailored from bouclé wool and adorned with opulent details. We love the pleated cream silk that features around the collar and at the cuffs. These ruffles are attached with snap closures and can be removed. Two flap patch pockets adorn the chest and two further patch pockets sit lower down the body, both finished with a row of tiny gold-tone metal buttons, encircled in black plastic and debossed with the famous CC insignia. These buttons also encircle the wrists, holding removable sleeve loops in place. The jacket is lined in matte black silk. It is designed to be worn open over the skirt and, as such, has no front fastenings.

This elegant ensemble is in excellent archival vintage condition; there are some faint age-related marks to the removable cuffs only and these are unnoticeable when worn. Due to the suit being couture made, there are no size or composition labels so please check our measurements below. The fabric has no stretch. We estimate a good fit for a size UK 8-10 or US 4-6. Our model is a UK 6 US 0-2 and 5'11" and this suit was roomy on her.
