Kalamkari where kalam means pen and kari means art was originated in Andhra Pradesh. This art generally portraits scenes from sacred texts of Mahabharat, Ramayan and Bhagwat. This saree is a Machilipatnam style of kalamkari where motifs are essentially printed with handcarved traditional blocks in earthy tones such as maroon & green. This saree has special border called as Nizamuddin border, which is one of the specialty of Kalamkari Sarees.
