In the 18th century, saturated reds—particularly those achieved through costly dyes such as cochineal—were among the most prestigious colors available. When paired with velvet, a fabric reserved for wealth and authority, red became a visual language of dominance, passion, and formal presence.

Velvet held a unique position within court wardrobes. Its dense pile absorbed light rather than reflecting it, giving the gown a profound depth and gravity. In rich red tones, velvet was often reserved for evening assemblies, ceremonial appearances, and Rococo portraiture intended to convey permanence and command. Inspired by the historic robe a la francaise, the Immortelle Gown is a modern corset gown interpretation rather than a historical reproduction. It honors the structure, romance, and grandeur of the Rococo era while embracing contemporary atelier craftsmanship, comfort, and versatility.

Each gown features a fully built-in corset constructed with coated spiral steel boning for sculpted support and shaping. Adjustable front and back modesty panels provide up to eight inches of expandability, allowing for a more personalized and adaptable fit over time.

Designed to be worn over panniers, side hoops, or full hoop skirts, the Immortelle Gown may be styled with removable stomachers, layered skirts, and decorative panels to create a silhouette unique to the wearer.
