I love the simplicity of form of this early 1980s Charles Jourdan black cocktail dress. It has a wide boatneck and fantastic cold shoulder sleeve so that the top of the arm is exposed. The sleeve itself is batwing and very tapered, finishing in a neat, buttoned cuff. The pattern on the fabric reminds me of the lines created by waves hitting a sandy beach. Its such an interesting jacquard silk feel material with the way that the weft and warp has been woven creating both matte and satin finishes to bring out a two-dimensional look. The dress it has a thigh high split on the left-hand side and would look fantastic belted.

In fabulous vintage condition, no issues of any note. It has an oversized, trapeze fit with the dress being generous in the torso and narrowing towards the hem line. Will fit sizes up to a UK 10 – 12 or US 6-8.
