Kay Bojesen - People - Guards - Wooden Figurine - Small Drumme
Inspired by one of Denmark's national symbols on the courtyard at Amalienborg Palace, Kay Bojesen created his guardsmen in 1942. Ever since, the Drummer, Standard-bearer and Guardsman with his rifle have been proud representatives of quality Danish design. A great gift idea that will last a lifetime for both children and adults. The figurines are made from hand-painted beech, and The Standard-Bearer's flag is made of durable spun polyester. Kay Bojesen's Royal Life Guard Regiment consisted of several different soldiers and the Officer was part of the troops. Kay Bojesen created the soldiers for the first time in 1940 on the occasion of King Christian the X’s 70th birthday as a tribute to the Danish king. At that time, they stood guard as one-meter-tall soldiers outside Kay Bojesen's shop in Bredgade.
