“I haven’t worn this one in so long, but I always thought of this as a one-of-a-kind piece. It may have been a runway sample that was never really produced—I’ve certainly never seen another one like it.”

About the Label:

Under Ralph Rucci, Chado Ralph Rucci became one of the rare American labels to operate at a true couture level. Invited to show on the official Paris couture calendar in the early 2000s—a distinction granted to very few non-French designers—Rucci approached his work with an almost obsessive attention to technique. Pieces were often constructed by hand in his New York atelier, incorporating methods more commonly associated with haute couture: intricate seaming, hidden structures, and highly specialized surface treatments.
