When I saw this season's Giambattista Valli Fall 2012 couture collection I could not help but think that the 2008 collection, of which this spectacular collection is from, was the precursor for what we saw on the runway. You can see the beginnings of what we saw in this piece! The 2008 collection catapulted Valli to fame and this was one of the cornerstone pieces that was featured everywhere! Produced as shown on the runway in very limited quantities, it is a stunning achievement in cut and concept. In perfect, mint, unworn condition and is a superb example of high end workmanship and refined restraint combined with the power of a vivid color. The references for the 2008 collection were "Ingmar Bergman's Cries and Whispers, the surrealist artist Meret Oppenheim, and "Little Red Riding Hood. Volume took center stage and in this coat/dress there is his signature cocoon shape with rounded shoulders, loose and wide body and then it is brought in at the hem. A huge rosette sits on the upper back purposely and slightly deconstructed in a pink net base. Each petal sewn into place by hand. Worn once and then stored in tissue this is classic and wonderful Valli at his best! Item# DD866
