• The dress has the same feel as the floral Spring 1978 Dior's that I have had in the shop in a couple of colours and I believe that this is from the same collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Marc Bohan.
• It is a very special dress and even without any firm documentation (yet) it is an absolutely beautiful dress in its own right.
• The dress is made out of a pink silk chiffon that is of the highest possible grade and is fine and light in weight.
• The dress is suspended from the shoulders from little pink straps made out of the same silk. The top is cut straight across and then has a little ruffle panel that follows the entire neckline. At the sides, the neckline continues and expand outwards to become the top of little floating sleeves that fall over your upper arm. These are very generously cut and have a bit of a cape feeling once on. They have been pleated where they inset around the arm and then the pleats open out so you get even more fullness.
• Under that the silk falls over the bust and waist in a very generous and full way. The dress has a bit of a nod to the 1920s and how it feels. This makes it very easy to fit and keeps it light and airy once on. A low set seam catches the silk back in words in seam sits at the top of the hip. The silk through the bodice is also pleated and this adds to its fullness and volume.
• I love the little pink silk satin ribbons that tie in bows at the base of each strap at the front. Two more bows are stacked in line with those to sit along the seam at the top of the hips. Another two are added in the same spot at the back. These are an extremely pretty and feminine touch.
• The skirt falls from that low set seam to about the knee, depending on your height, and here again the fabric is done generously in a soft floating expanse of the same pleated silk chiffon as the top.
• The lightness of the fabric and ease in the cut allow it to move beautifully when you move and the cut through the body is loose and open so it is very easy to wear and fit.
• The dress is fully lined in a pink silky rayon and closes with a side set painted metal zipper along the inner lining and then the outer chiffon layer snaps in place over that. Slight elastic through the neckline. I see some light marks here and there and I have photoed them for you. There are two on the edge of one sleeve, a very tiny set of marks on the front bodice, and some marks on the skirt near the hem. Because of the amount of fabric that the dress has, these are not easily apparent once it is on but are seeing when the dress is lane flat and you check for them.
