This very rare girl’s dress from the Biedermeier period, dating to around 1845, is an exceptional survivor of early 19th‑century children’s fashion. The dress is made of printed cotton, a practical yet charming textile commonly used for children’s clothing. As was fashionable at the time, girls’ dresses closely mirrored adult women’s styles. This piece features classic Biedermeier elements: bell sleeves, a front snood, a pleated skirt, and piping along the bodice, all reflecting the miniature elegance of mid‑19th‑century dressmaking.

Despite its age, the dress is well preserved, though it shows stains, areas of wear, and some fading on the sleeves—typical signs of authentic historical use.
