1940s Hand-Dyed Coral Satin Slip Dress | Vintage Lace Appliqués | Revived Beauty

This 1940s satin slip dress was hand-dyed in coral, with a soft, lustrous finish that captures the light just right. Originally in a pale tone, I gave it new life through careful hand-dyeing — the bodice glows in a warm coral hue, while the batik-dyed hem creates a subtle ombré effect that adds depth and dimension.

Delicate lace embellishments and floral embroidery adorn the bodice and trim, a testament to the thoughtful detailing typical of the era. The piece had a number of small pinholes and age-related flaws, so I lovingly restored it by adding vintage lace appliqués, all chosen to complement the original design and preserve its charm. The repairs are all pictured — a visual story of transformation and care.

This slip was originally meant for loungewear, but today it makes the perfect romantic summer dress — unique, lightweight, and full of soul.

🌺 Styling ideas:

• Day: Pair with flat leather sandals, a straw bag, and a sunhat for a bohemian market look.

• Evening: Add gold earrings, strappy heels, and a draped shawl or sheer blouse for a soft-glam moment.

• Vintage and antique items have been previously loved, so small imperfections may exist.

• Hand-dyed pieces: Due to the nature of hand-dyeing, colors may not be perfectly even. Please wash these items delicately, preferably alone or with similar colors.

• Antique fabrics (pre-1930s): Delicate materials such as 1920s silk or Edwardian muslin require extra care. These fabrics can be fragile and should be worn loosely to prevent stress or tearing.

Things to Consider for Edwardian & Victorian Clothing:

• A marked XS piece may have medium-sized shoulders and hips but a tiny waist (corset-era sizing).

• Sleeves are often ¾ length, not full-length.

• Buttons may be mismatched due to age and previous repairs.
