Shweshwe Arbor Hats

• These arbor hats are simple and beautiful with a snugly fit.
• The wide brim is slightly angled and provides full sun coverage without being overly floppy. The finished brim at the widest point is approximately between 8.5 cm and 11.5 cm.
• The pattern is designed to fit snugly for the head measurements below. If you are nearing the upper end of the size, or prefer a looser fit, just size up.
• Removable Chin straps with a toggle to adjust the length (elasticated/cotton)
• Using Shweshwe for the outer hat, medium-weight unbleached cotton calico for the lining as well as interfacing between Shweshwe layers for the brim.

It is very important to measure before choosing a size. Size charts vary greatly between sewing pattern designers, and even more in comparison to ready to wear clothing. Choose the size based on the wearer’s head circumference. (Pattern designed by Rose & Rail)
To measure head circumference, place a measuring tape snugly around the head at
the widest part, above the ears. The measuring tape should be positioned approximately where the cap of the hat would sit comfortably on the head.
