This pretty 1940s rayon midi dress is printed with repeat florals in bright violet, emerald green and aubergine, all against a charcoal black background that really makes the colours pop. The dress is tailored to a classic ‘40s tea dress shape - with pretty gathered cap-sleeves, a nipped-in waist and a light flare to the skirt. The detail that really makes this dress stand out is the lovely ruffle detail across the front of the left shoulder. The back has a keyhole cut-out at the back of the neck and is secured with a hook-and-eye clasp. We also love that this dress retains its original matching fabric covered belt.

A well manufactured piece originating from the USA and in excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note. If we are being picky, the silky rayon has very subtly faded all over; however this has a very uniform appearance and should not be viewed as a fault. Please check the measurements below closely to ensure a good fit - the fabric does not have any stretch. We estimate a good fit for sizes up to a UK 10-12 or US 6-8.
