We date the piece to around 1925, and it carries the label of Franklin Simon & Co., a celebrated New York department store known for importing high‑quality European garments and offering them at competitive prices. The house was founded in 1902 by Franklin Simon and Herman A. Flurscheim and became synonymous with stylish, modern women’s wear in the early 20th century—an important reference point in American fashion history.

The jacket is crafted from deep green velvet, a luxurious fabric favored for evening and outerwear in the mid‑1920s. It features long gathered and pleated sleeves, adding volume and movement, and a stylish collar that is stuffed on the inside to maintain its sculptural shape.
