This exceptionally rare antique decorative handkerchief, dating to ca. 1861, features a beautifully worked double coat of arms beneath a crown: the heraldic emblems of Austria‑Tuscany and Bourbon‑Sicily. The design refers to the marriage of Princess Maria Immaculata Clementina of Bourbon‑Sicily (1844–1899) and Archduke Karl Salvator of Austria‑Tuscany (1839–1892), who wed in Rome on September 19, 1861. Handkerchiefs of this type were luxury items even at the time and were often produced to commemorate dynastic unions within European royal houses.

Made of fine cotton batiste and edged with delicate bobbin lace, the handkerchief exemplifies the refined textile craftsmanship of the mid‑19th century. Its preservation is excellent, with crisp fabric, intact lace, and remarkably clear heraldic motifs—an extraordinary survival given its age and rarity. The piece originally belonged to the parents of Maria Immaculata of Württemberg, further enhancing its historical and aristocratic provenance.
