A stunning example of its kind, this 1930s cream silk blouse was handmade in China for the export market. The detailing across this piece is exquisite - truly a wonderful addition to any collection of garments from this era. Crafted from luxurious, rich cream satin, it is detailed with pretty smocking on the front, just below the shoulders. It has a V-neckline and fastens with two beautiful ribbon work front fastenings. One fastening is secured with cream ribbon, and the other is secured through a fabric loop with a button formed from plaited ribbon. The front showcases a bib of tonal embroidered floral lace and cutwork which gives a sensuous peekaboo finish. This embellishment also finishes the button hem, the collar and the cuffs on the graceful, wide angel-sleeves. This top has a relaxed fit and hangs open at the front. It is unlined and would have been worn over a chemise top or dress.

Unlabelled, this beautiful blouse is in excellent vintage condition with no issues of any note. We suggest a best fit for sizes up to a UK 10-12 or US 6-8 and smaller. Our model is a UK 6 US 0-2 and 5'11". This blouse looked great on her with some room to spare.
