The twin of this stunning silk print maxi dress by Oscar de la Renta is held in the Goldstein Museum of Design (the last two photos are their collection archive photos) and they have this dated as being from the 1960-1969 period. The dress is visually stunning and one of my favorites. It is made of a combination of printed scarf weight silk and silk chiffon, edged with a raised dragon pattern silk brocade. Simple lines are offset by the vibrant color and that amazing belt. The wide belt picked up the brocade detail that runs across the bodice and cinches in the waist as well. It is wide and covered in two bands of that silk brocade that has wonderful dragons flying across its surface. The sleeves are left unlined and billow softly above each wrist and the skirt cascades to the floor in a full swath of silk. Museum quality and a rare and wonderful piece. Excellent condition

Fully lined with a vibrant pink silk and closes with a back, painted metal zipper with hook and eye at the neck. Each cuff snapos to close with fabric covered snaps. It has its two original belts - the one you see and a skinnier version that is covered in the same fabric as the dress. There is a teeny bit of color run under the arms near the seams but it is not seen when on, only when laid out flat and closely inspected. Hand finishes.
