The 2011 Château Vannières Bandol Rouge is a wine that combines power and elegance. It's rich, structured, and complex, with a great balance between dark fruit, savoury flavours, and earthy notes. While it can certainly be enjoyed now, this wine has excellent aging potential and will likely evolve beautifully over the next decade or more, as the tannins soften and the flavours become more integrated.
Deep ruby red with some garnet edges, indicative of age and maturity.
The nose is powerful and complex, offering a rich bouquet of dark fruits such as blackberries, black cherries, and plums, along with spicy notes of black pepper, clove, and cinnamon. The influence of Mourvèdre shines through with earthy aromas of leather, tobacco, and hints of dried herbs. There is also a subtle minerality and a faint, almost floral note of violet or lavender, which adds complexity to the aromatic profile.
Full-bodied, with a strong presence of structured tannins and balanced acidity that provide a solid backbone and structure to the wine.
Pairs well with rich, hearty dishes such as grilled meats (lamb, beef), stews, game (wild boar, venison), and Mediterranean cuisine (roasted vegetables, olives, and grilled fish). It also works well with mature cheeses like Manchego or aged cheddar.
