This commemorative issue from Macau (Portuguese Administration) was released in 1997 to mark the 77th Anniversary of the Macau Red Cross (1920–1997). The design is in a se-tenant pair format:

• The left label features the seven fundamental principles of the Red Cross — Humanity, Volunteering, Impartiality, Independence, Neutrality, Universality, and Unity — written in Portuguese and Chinese.

• The right stamp, denominated 1.50 Patacas, shows the Red Cross headquarters in Macau, with a background of a stylized world map and the number 77 prominently displayed in pink.

The issue reflects Macau’s dual cultural heritage with bilingual inscriptions (Portuguese and Chinese), and highlights both the local presence and global mission of the Red Cross. Designed by Loi Chio Teng, it was printed by INCM (Imprensa Nacional Casa da Moeda, Portugal), catalogued under Macau Scott #894 (Michel #946).

This is a historically important stamp, as it was one of the last Red Cross commemoratives issued before Macau’s 1999 handover to China. It is of strong interest to collectors of Red Cross themes, Macau history, and humanitarian philately.
