Printed on newsprint, each issue of the Paris-based Blue Moon brings together a mix of artists, musicians, filmmakers, photographers and writers ‘that are, or began on the margins; figures and harbingers of subcultural movements.’ 

This tenth issue marks a decade of Blue Moon, bringing together established and emerging artists using their creative practice as a productive outlet for responding to the crises shaping the world today—from the present proliferation of active conflicts and surveillance states to the apocalyptic threat of natural disasters and artificial intelligence. Alongside contemporary practitioners, the issue also pays posthumous tribute to a handful of transgressive 20th century artists whose work provided an alternative blueprint for creative resistance. Opening the issue, Cady Noland’s written and sculptural forms hold a mirror up to the insidious American power structures that simultaneously render bodies hyper-visible and invisible. Liam Sangmuah sits down with American hip-hop legend Yasiin Bey and Spanish-Moroccan painter Anuar Khalifi; their conversation shifts between sobering reflections on protest and spirituality, and a celebration of the absurdity of life. Elsewhere, you’ll find a homage to American photographer Diane Arbus, whose unflinching camera lens ‘sought out transgression’ in a bid to defy the bourgeois confines of her childhood, as well as a conversation with Paul Monroe about the life and work of partner Greer Lankton.

Plus, the centrefold consists of six red-tinted poster inserts, featuring full-bleed works by contributing artists.
