This exuberant mid-19th century style ring showcases a 4.42 carat pink tourmaline. There was a fascination for large faceted gemstones at this time and this ring would have been at home with the elaborate furnishings and dresses of the Victorian era. The Georgian era had officially ended with the ascent to the throne of Queen Victoria in 1837, yet the Georgian influence can be seen in this jewel. Like today, the designs of the recent past continue to be popular for many years.

The beautiful pierced setting is in 18 carat yellow gold, a metal that was very expensive until after gold was found in California in 1848.
