It is used to clean surfaces and make them shine, such as stainless steel, copper, brass, silver, pottery, marble, plastic. Polishing stainless steel, copper, pewter and silver: make a paste with water and Blanc de Meudon and then rub it in. Blanc de Meudon comes from the chalk quarries in the Parisian water basin. This fine white powder mainly contains calcium carbonate, but it is also slightly alkaline, very mildly abrasive and traditionally used for painting and household tasks. It can also be used to make white paint and is popularly known as whitewash; you can use it with children to decorate and obscure house windows (ideal for Christmas decorations). Or you can temporarily whiten your shop window if you are renovating. The decoration can later be removed with a simple cloth and water. It is non-toxic and completely harmless to nature. Available in a 500g cardboard bag. Blanc de Meudon is also sometimes called ‘Spanish white’, ‘Toulouse white’, ‘Champagne (Troyes) white’ or more traditionally marl. The Meudon quarry is no longer exploited, but has become a protected landscape. Blanc de Meudon can be used pure, treated and/or mixed with other materials.
