Imbolc, or Imbolg, is the pagan Sabbat on or about February 2nd. This holiday is also known as Brigid, dedicated to the Goddess Brigid, and in other places, we call this holiday Candelaria or Candlemas, or Ground Hog's Day. Use this incense to accentuate any ceremony or ritual to honor this day, and to celebrate the growing light.

My Imbolc incense is not like any other recipe you may come across. I wanted it to come out white in color, since Imbolc is often celebrated with white and milky colors for the birthing of the sheep. I wanted it to smell bright and fresh for the newness of the Sun and the growing light. I also wanted it to have just a touch of the smell of burning candles, since this is a Candle holiday. I include the flowers of Rosemary, since there are very few other flowers at this time of year. This holiday is often observed with blessings, consecrations and initiations, so Imbolc incense could be used for any of these purposes no matter what time of year.

Natural Magick incenses are composed of high quality resins, herbs, and sometimes essential oils. They are ritually hand ground on appropriate days of the week for Planetary influences and on the best day of the Moon's cycle for Lunar powers. Unlike most powder incenses, I use no "base" or filler to alter or dilute the powers of the active ingredients.

These magick incenses are made to be burned on incense charcoals. Light the charcoal with match or lighter, set it in a flameproof incense burner or on a brick, rock or bowl of sand, pebbles, or salt. Allow the charcoal to light completely and then sprinkle on a pinch the incense. Add more pinches as desired. See below for more detailed instructions.
