This is really a wonderful, very old kitchen paddle with a terrific patina, and quite an unusual one, with horizontal handle at the end. The paddle itself beautifully extends all the way through the handle, with the end visible on the other side, and a couple of old fat nails holding it securely in place. I'd guess it was an apple butter paddle, with the handle allowing for an extra good grip, but it also might have been the all purpose go-to for all sorts off mixing and stirring, and that handle is a pure pleasure to hold onto. 

14 1/8" long, handle is 4 3/8" across and 5/8" thick. Well worn but all the better for it and in excellent structural condition.
