This 25 F + 5 F semi-postal stamp from the République du Dahomey (now Benin) was issued in 1962 to support the global campaign against malaria. The design features the World Health Organization emblem — a staff with a serpent over a globe — combined with a mosquito, symbolizing the disease’s vector. The laurel wreath and inscription “Le monde uni contre le paludisme” (“The world united against malaria”) highlight international cooperation in eradicating the disease. The additional 5 F surcharge supported public health efforts. Designed by Bétamps and printed by Chaix, this issue reflects early African participation in WHO’s malaria eradication program.
