This is a beautiful Faceted Green Fluorite specimen from Mexico set into a .925 sterling silver pronged pendant mount. Available in an oval or round cut (depending on availability).
Green Fluorite is a calcium fluoride mineral (CaF₂) known for its translucent to transparent green hues, which result from trace elements such as rare earth elements or organic inclusions. With a Mohs hardness of 4, it is relatively soft and requires careful handling in jewelry. It forms in hydrothermal veins, often associated with quartz, calcite, and sulfide minerals, and exhibits strong fluorescence under UV light due to impurities. Major sources include China, Mexico, the United States (Illinois and Kentucky), and South Africa. Green fluorite is commonly cut into cabochons, carvings, and decorative specimens, valued for its clarity and vibrant color variations.
