There’s also an abundance of wood sugars and vanilla custard that reaches the nose just as you raise the glass to your lips. From there, the palate welcomes you with a smoked maple syrup note that fuses with peppercorn, raw mint, malted chocolate, oak, and filo dough. As your senses acclimate to each sip, it gains depth, with stewed apples, pear chips, and freshly cracked black pepper. By the time the moderately lengthy finish begins, the sweet notes leap to the fore with dark honey and creme brulee flavors finally closing the curtain.

About: This Empire Rye was made in Brooklyn, New York, and adheres to the standards set by the Empire Rye Whiskey Association—a designation that celebrates high-quality, locally sourced New York rye. The whiskey must be made from at least 75% New York-grown rye grain, mashed, fermented, distilled, barreled, and aged at a single New York distillery. Aged for a minimum of two years in new, charred oak barrels and distilled no higher than 160 proof, this whiskey reflects the strength of local agriculture and craft distilling.
