While on an artist-led trip in Iceland, Lisa explored a whole new natural landscape. She discovered a huge variety of lichen with colors ranging from greens to vibrant oranges growing on the volcanic rocks. This piece uses techniques, such as crochet, weaving, and needle felting to recreate the organic shapes and create a sense of growth like that lichen. These techniques build depth to create that same richness of texture and subtle color variations found in nature but made to be appreciated through a warmer and more approachable lens.
