LastSwab is the original reusable cotton swab — a washable, long-lasting alternative to single-use cotton swabs, designed in Copenhagen by LastObject. Launched on Kickstarter in 2019, it raised over $700,000 from more than 20,000 backers and became one of the most-funded personal care products in Kickstarter history. A follow-up Indiegogo campaign added a further 30,000+ backers worldwide.

The tip is made from TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) — a non-porous, flexible material that can be rinsed clean after each use. Unlike cotton, the tip does not absorb and retain bacteria between uses. The stem is polypropylene and the included travel case is made from ocean-bound plastic. An ISO-certified lifecycle analysis (ISO 14040/14044) found that LastSwab has 8.3 times less environmental impact than single-use cotton swabs across all 22 environmental impact categories, including carbon footprint, water use, and land use. The break-even point is just 35 uses.

LastSwab is designed for the same external cosmetic uses as a standard cotton swab: make-up application and removal, detail work, nail art, and cleaning small spaces. It is not intended for internal ear canal cleaning. After each use, rinse under warm water — a small amount of soap is fine for deeper cleaning. Dry and return to the travel case. One LastSwab replaces approximately 365 single-use swabs per year of daily use, and is designed to last for 1,000+ uses.
