About the Wood:
Thuya Burl comes from the Thuya tree, which once grew abundantly alongside oaks and cedars in the Atlas Mountains of Algeria and Morocco. The Greeks named it thuya, meaning "sacrifice," as it was burned as incense in rituals. The wood is naturally fragrant and highly figured, with swirling, round burl eyes that resemble bird’s-eye maple. Its warm coloring ranges from golden to deep brown, often darkening with age.
