We came in peace.
On October 23, 1983, a suicide bomber drove a truck laden with explosives into the Marine Corps barracks in Beirut, Lebanon. The blast killed 241 American service members — the deadliest single-day loss for the U.S. Marine Corps since the Battle of Iwo Jima. The 1st Battalion, 8th Marines were among those who answered the call, deployed as part of the Multinational Force in Lebanon during one of the most volatile periods of the Cold War.
This hoodie honors their sacrifice, their service, and the standard they upheld under impossible circumstances.
The 8th Marine Regiment was an infantry regiment of the United States Marine Corps, based at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, under the command of the 2nd Marine Division and II Marine Expeditionary Force. The regiment was decommissioned on January 28, 2021, as part of ongoing force design efforts.
