Called ‘Bridge’ or ‘Wheelhouse’ windows in house as that’s where we used to find most of them, on port and star-bd sides of mid-century ships wheelhouse but you do find them in other areas of the ship. With solid brass frames, quarter-light opening, secured by strong ‘dogs’ and toughened glass they are another example of a marine fitting that will never be made again.

These are from our ship-breaking exploits of the late 1990’s and early 2000’s when the last of the old British built ships went to scrap. There will always be a blemishes to the glass and / or brass commensurate with age, usage and salvage. Small glass blemishes are very difficult to photograph so we recommend, if you can, to come and inspect and, with our help, pick your own. If this is not possible then please rest assure we will be fussy on your behalf and pick the best ones for your order.

This batch are in great condition other than the adjusting side latches that used to keep the top-light open ajar do not function anymore. Rubber seals vary in quality, we recommend this is renewing if taking these back to sea.
